About Kent and Medway STEM

Inspiring the next generation of scientists.

Science | Technology | Engineering | Maths

In December 2008 Canterbury Christ Church University was awarded the contract for brokerage and Stem Ambassadors from STEMNET.

The brokerage role involves providing advice, information and guidance to schools and colleges about science technology engineering and mathematics enrichment and enhancement activities. The Ambassadors are science, technology, engineering and mathematics ambassadors, who have a desire to inspire children and young people in STEM subjects. The main qualities that all Ambassadors share are enthusiasm and commitment, along with a passion for what they do.

We aim to match the schools’ requirements for information, support and guidance to the bank of registered Ambassadors within the Kent and Medway area.

The first activity that Kent and Medway Stem are involved with is the setting up of an advisory forum, with representatives from local businesses, schools and local authorities, the main aim of the group is to identify activity already taking place around the STEM agenda and ensure the work in the future meets the needs of the schools, college and learners in the area.

Part of the first steps was to produce this website. The aim was to produce a user-friendly, functional and interesting resource for teachers, learners and employers This site will evolve over time and become an essential resource for anyone interested in STEM.
